Hi Community 100 Family and Friends,
Students have been working hard on history projects, Touching Spirit Bear work, science labs, and independent reading projects.
We had a great time at Fall Camp, have recently wrapped up student led conferences for the 7th graders and have only two more weeks left in the first quarter.
Thanks,
Brad

Social Change Assignment
Hi Community 100 Followers,
In a kick-off activity to begin Cycle 4: Leadership through Social Change, students viewed the KONY 2012 video regarding Joseph Kony, child soldiers, social media, social change and Uganda. Students were then given a series of questions to answer for homework.
Seventh grade responses are due Tuesday, March 13th and 8th grade responses are due Wednesday, March 14.
The questions are as follows: 1.) Create a list of at least 10 social problems. Include local, national and international problems. 2.) List and describe 5 web sites that help solve social issues. 3.) Define social change. 4.) Who are at least 7 leaders of social change? They can come from the past or present. What have they done to initiate social change? 5.) What do you see as some of the most pressing social issues of our time. (You can circle the ones you find most important from #1. 6.) What is social media? 7.) Give ways that social media is used to help solve social problems. Give examples like Kony 2012. 8.) Watch Kony 2012. Take notes on the issue, the group bringing light of his deeds, and how social media is being used to create social change.
